You Are What You Carry: Photo Series Shows the Gadgets in Our Bags
Some of our most important and defining possessions are the ones that we carry around with us. In 2009, photographer Jason Travis looked to expose what these objects say about us in his ongoing "Persona" series.
In [his] photographic mission to snap (mostly) Atlanta residents' bag contents, he discovered many, many gadgets. Sure, there was at least one cellphone per bag—but also gaming devices, Polaroid cameras, a MacGyver DVD...
The collection reveals an obvious connection between identity, culture, and mobile phones. We do not live without them; people consider them part of their body, and even more a part of their mind. See the complete 113 photo Flickr set here.
